In addition to this list, here is a partial list of local services in our community.- Down's Syndrome Association of Ventura County (805) 378-5129 Parents and professionals organized to promote a positive image for Down's Syndrome.
- Easter Seals Tri-Counties (805) 647-1141 Services include: equipment loans-wheelchairs, etc.; infant development for infants to 3 years with identified or suspected development delays; preschool for 3-5 year olds, includes speech therapy, motor skills, etc., 5 days per week(morning or afternoon options); recreation, therapeutic swimming; Post-Polio Syndrome support group. Wheelchair accessible; Spanish (on-site) Tuesday-Friday.
- Multiple Sclerosis Society, Channel Island Chapter (805) 682-8783 Serving tri-counties. Services include teen peer counseling. Wheelchair accessible. Jeanette Chian, Program Director.
- Muscular Dystrophy Association (Santa Barbara) (805) 683-8566 Provides a comprehensive patient service program to children and adults with muscle diseases throughout the tri-counties. Week-long summer camp program for children ages 6-21. Wheelchair accessible. "Hop-A-Thon," week-long handicap awareness program. All teaching materials provided at no charge. - Special Olympics, Ventura County Chapter (805) 654-7787 Nonprofit volunteer service designed to provide athletic training programs and competition for mentally retarded children and adults.
- Rainbow Connection Family Resource Center (805) 485-9643 Rainbow Connection Family Resource Center is for families and friends of children with special needs. Information on specific disabilities and a resource library that includes books for families and providers and a children's book section. Please call (805) 485-9643; Spanish line (805) 485-9892.
- Tri-Counties Regional Center (805) 962-7881, or (800) 322-6994 The State of California contracts with Tri-Counties Regional Center to provide supports and services for children and adults with developmental disabilities living in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. In January 2005, a new law called the Family Cost Particpation Program (FCPP) went into effect requiring parents of children with special needs to share in the cost of certain services provided through Tri-Counties Regional Center.
